Time needed: 10 min prep, 30 minutes cooking
Notes: you can store sauteed onion in the fridge or freezer, you can make a bigger portion and keep it until needed (in a good tightly closed jar, because onion has a very strong scent.)
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 5 onions
- 1 l water
Peel and slice onions. Melt the butter in a pot and add onions. Saute it covered until golden but stir it occasionally.
Grate cheese, slice bread and roast it into oven until cheese gets melted.
When the onion is golden and tender, (At this point I took out one portion that I wanted to use on Saturday) Add water, salt (garlic, pepper etc.). Mix it to get a creamy, thick mixture.
